General Information of Exchange Students

 

University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) is one of the key institutions of advanced education in Shanghai directly under the Municipal Government.  USST is a comprehensive university with rich diversity of disciplines, which focuses mainly on industry while having many other majors in literature, science, economy and management. With a long history of over 90 years, it consists of 16 colleges and schools, 12 international joint programs, offering 44 undergraduate programs, 35 master programs, 10 professional programs for degree of engineering and MBA degree, 3 doctoral programs and 2 post-doctoral program. In addition, we also have 11 key disciplines and 28 research institutes.

We began to enroll foreign students in 1987. We opened short-term courses for Chinese Language learning all over the year.

Chinese Language Short-term Course

General Course Information

The students of this short-term course mainly study Chinese. They are required to have correct pronunciation and intonation through mandarin phonetic drills, to master common Chinese words and expressions, to get familiar with Chinese grammar, and to develop relatively good ability of Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing through the study and exercises of words, grammar and texts. Different courses are also arranged on Chinese history, Chinese culture, calligraphy and cooking. Besides, the   
students should have a fairly good knowledge of Chinese culture, or have a fairly strong communicative ability of English as a second foreign language.

Main Practice Teaching Links

The main practice teaching links include language practice, major practice, social survey, topic lecture, graduation thesis writing, etc. There are usually about 4 to 16 weeks allocated.
